Big D Holiday

Are you looking for traditional events to celebrate the upcoming holiday season? The Big D Holiday guide is an assortment of events and activities happening around Dallas and this list will guide you in finding activities that your family will enjoy together. My family is planning to start our Big D Holiday fun with a trip to the Dallas Arboretum to celebrate the annual 12 Days of Christmas exhibit presented by Reliant.

I love to take the kids to the Dallas Arboretum because I am always impressed with the gardens and the beauty of the exhibits that they have on display. I can spend hours here with my family browsing the beautiful gardens, hanging out at the Rory Meyers children’s garden or participating at the various activities hosted here.

The annual 12 days of Christmas display at the Arboretum is a fun tradition where many of the locals come here to take pictures with the beautiful grand displays representing the 12 days of Christmas. Each of the Victorian style exhibits showcases the 12 days of Christmas and life size entertainment within the gazebos. The Garden reopens nightly from 6pm-9pm for special themed events.

The evening at the Dallas Arboretum during the 12 days of Christmas celebration will have many activities going on including the Elves workshop, Serenade and Sweets, Visits with Santa and many more. These activities all have specific dates and times. Be sure to check the event calendar for more details.

Visitors from all around the state and beyond come here because of what can be experienced during the Big D Holidays. The lineup of events will fill your calendar with great traditions and wonderful memories. We are looking forward to The Nutcracker at the Dallas Winspear Opera house that will
begin November 25th. I can’t wait to participate in a Holiday tradition of a beautiful ballet performance.

The Fair Park will transform into walk-through light display of lanterns called Holiday Wonder. The Dallas Children’s Theater will put on a performance of Frosty and Friends and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Also, Galleria Dallas will host a Grand Tree Lighting featuring ice skating and pyrotechnics.

I can’t wait to see and do more in the city we call home. I know that you will find something here that you can enjoy make the memories while experiencing the Big D Holidays fun. The Visit Dallas website will have the complete guide for your Big D Holiday Experience.

  5. I think we’re starting a tradition of going to see lights in Grand Prairie or see the display at the Arboretum. But our usual tradition is getting together with extended family for a late Christmas lunch.

Something that both my husband and I enjoy is a great Christmas Eve performance by the kids choir at church on Christmas Eve- it just melts our hearts.
