Week of / December 1-7, 2014 / Dallas- Downtown

'Tis the season for family and friends! Let's continue making our weekends memorable and full of love with our family! I have planned out two itineraries, please choose one that works best for your family, or feel free to mix and match!

Dallas/ Metroplex

1. Rise and Shine and get the kids out to your local Home Depot and get building! The Home Depot 1st Saturday's has fun workshops that will get the littles using hammers, paints and some imagination. This Saturday theme is making Holiday Yard Stakes! What a neat way to display what the kids made out in the front yard! Reservations are now required, so get online and get registered.

2. Time for a good brunch/ lunch. Torchy's Tacos will be where you want to eat some delicious breakfast/ lunch tacos. The tacos are priced well and the kids will have no problem eating all their food. I highly suggest getting the queso. This is the reason you will be coming back for more Torchy's. There are several locations in the metroplex, find one closest to you or go on a mini adventure to a different location.

3. End the night under shimmering and gleaming lights of the local festive light displays. Choose any location or visit all three throughout the month of December!

*Farmers Branch- Christmas Tour of Lights
*Frisco- Christmas in the Square
*Grapevine- Light Show Spectacular

Downtown Dallas

1. Be prepared for an ALL day event in Downtown Dallas. The Klyde Warren Park and the AT&T Performing Arts Center will collaborate for a day and night to remember! This event will be memorable and I know that you will be overgramming on instagram. Thanks to the great city of Dallas these two events will work together by putting on live music, appearances from Mr. and Mrs. Clause, and of course "snow" in Dallas. The night will end with a tree lighting ceremony and a Fireworks show. This spectacular event kicks off at 1-4pm at Klyde Warren park and proceed to AT&T center to 5-7pm. Dallas always does everything BIG!

Dallas

1. Did you know that Target has an ongoing second Saturday event!! It is held at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas and this will be a great opportunity for the family to be apart of another cultural experience and see what they can learn. 1. Take the kids and go down to Knox Avenue in Dallas. This is a nice place to walk around the neighborhood. Check out the fun and quirky stores that line the street, like Pottery Barn and Froggie's 5 & 10. The Apple Store would be a fun stop to check out the hype surrounding the new iPhone 6. Let the kids gather around the kids table to play the free apps that are available on the sleek tablets.

Northpark Center/ Dallas

1. Have fun indoors on Saturday at Northpark Center. Start things off by taking the family to Bread Winners Cafe for a scrumptious brunch. This is by far the best place in the area for brunch. I recommend going out on the patio and let the kids play with life size connect four boards.

2. Right across from the Bread Winners cafe is the Bookmarks Library. At 2pm "The Caribbean Show" will have an amazing reading time with the feel of calypso and reggae story time. At 2:30pm, Oil and Cotton, a creative education studio from the Bishop Art District, will be at the library with fun and creative crafts for kids of all ages to enjoy.

Highland Village

1. Saturday evening, take to the skies and look up. It's not a bird or a plane... It's Hot air balloons. Highland Village will be hosting the 27th annual Balloon Festival.

2. The carnival food at the Balloon Festival will be a treat. If you prefer a quick bite, head down to SuschiYAA for some delicious flavors of Japanese sushi. Or some good custard at Freddy's Frozen Custard

p.s.  If you are still excited about the concert idea, then you might want to check out Lee Harvey's in the Cedars for a date night. They are known for consistently showcasing great local talent.
